What is book2skills? Use books, don't just read them

book2skills distills the analytical frameworks inside classic books into AI Skills — so you can run Buffett's investment logic or Graham's valuation method directly inside Claude or OpenClaw. Not chatting about books. Actually using them.

Most people retain less than 20% of a book after finishing it. The percentage they actually put to work is even smaller.

The frameworks, analytical methods, and decision logic inside great books — the parts that are genuinely valuable — tend to sink quietly into the back of your mind once you close the cover.

book2skills exists to fix that: to go from book to skills in action, not just knowledge in memory.

If you're an investor, analyst, or anyone who wants to put a book's methodology to work — not just understand it — this is for you.

From reading to using

"Chat with books" tools are useful — they let you summarize, ask questions, and search across a book's content. But at their core, they're still just helping you read faster.

book2skills takes a different approach.

We distill the core analytical method from a book into an AI Skill — not a summary, but an executable version of the book's methodology. That's what book to skills actually means: the method leaves the page and becomes something you can run.

A concrete example

Warren Buffett has publicly recommended over 15 investment classics. Each one encodes a battle-tested analytical framework.

Once distilled into a Skill and installed in Claude or OpenClaw, you can simply say:

"Use The Intelligent Investor's margin-of-safety principle to analyze BYD's current valuation."

The AI doesn't just quote the book back at you — it actually runs the analysis using Graham's method, applied to current data.

What you're working with is decades of distilled thinking, not a book summary.

What are Agent Skills?

book2skills is built on top of Agent Skills — an open standard introduced by Anthropic. In short, it's a standardized format for packaging AI capabilities: each Skill is an installable "professional module" that tells the AI which framework to apply and how to structure its work. Claude, OpenClaw, and other major tools all support this standard.

The biggest advantage of Skills is self-iteration. If you spot a gap in a Skill's logic, just tell it — "add this rule" — and it updates its own file immediately, no developer required. This is what iterating on your Skill means: continuously injecting your own judgment and domain knowledge until the tool fits your workflow precisely.

For a deeper look at how Agent Skills work, see this post (coming soon).

Why build Skills from books?

Iterating on a Skill assumes you start with a good foundation.

Skills marketplaces are flooded with options — skills.sh alone lists over 90,000 Skills, with no real quality signal. No reviews, no case studies, just download counts. And download count doesn't equal quality. An unknown Skill might have sloppy logic, be built on outdated thinking, or simply be wrong for your use case.

Classic books are different. The frameworks in enduring investment, management, and strategy books have been tested across market cycles and real-world conditions. They're structured, internally consistent, and battle-proven.

Starting your Skill from a classic book means starting from a foundation that's already earned its credibility.

Good foundation + continuous iteration = an AI tool that keeps getting better.

That's the core logic behind book to skills.

FAQ

How is book2skills different from ChatPDF or similar tools?

ChatPDF lets you chat with a book — ask questions, find passages, get summaries. You're still reading, just faster. book2skills distills the book's analytical method into an installable AI Skill. You apply that method to your own problems directly. That's the difference between reading a book and actually using it.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not at all. Find the Skill you want, copy the content, paste it into your Claude Project or OpenClaw Skill settings, and start using it. The whole process takes under 3 minutes, no technical background required.

Can I modify a Skill after installing it?

Yes — and that's the point. Tell the AI what to adjust ("add this rule", "change this logic") and it updates the Skill file directly. Changes take effect immediately. The Skill gets more tailored to your needs every time you use it.

What types of books are available?

Currently focused on investment analysis, business decision-making, and strategic management. Available in English and Chinese. Browse all available Skills on the homepage — every Skill is free to preview.

book2skills is early. If there's a book you want to see, or if you have feedback after using a Skill, tell us — every piece of feedback directly shapes the next iteration.

Not just reading books. Start using them — with book2skills.
